What other fish do you have in that aquarium? I personally wouldn't worry too much about losing the fry; well at least not to other fish, cichlids are amazing parents.

So my Jack Dempsey's actually had babies!!! My only question is when should i move them from the tank so they dont get eaten by the other fish?

If you enjoy breeding, like most others, then I suggest purchasing an extra tank........The tank should be 20-55g..........This tank will be the "growout" tank.......The growout tank is a tank in which you place the newly hatch fry into and grow seperately from the pair...........This way you will have more fry growing to saleable/feedable size.........The best time to move newly hatched fry is right after the whole spawn has hatched from their eggs.........Hatching takes place within2-3 days and only lasts about one day..........So be quick about reteiving the fry .........Leave the newly hatched alone for the first 5-7 days.......At this time they will be called "wigglers" because they cannot swim........The wigglers will soak up their eggs sacks for the first 5-7 days of their lives.......Afterwhich, they become free-swimming, or "fry..."AT this time the fry should be fed 3-4 times a day.........The best food to boos t their growing at this stage in life is baby brine shrimp, "bbs" for short...........BBS can be purchased live at some local fish stores.....Normally, poeple them as eggs and grow them in 2 liter bottles.........Always have a supply ready.......The fry will grow fast being fed bbs for the first month............They become fish within 5 weeks and can be fed regular crushed food such as flakes or pellets...........Within 6-8 weeks, the fry become more regular looking and are then profitable if need be that way............Most are fed back to the community, but most are sold off.........

I have a ton of different cichlids in the tank. so my concern is that ive seen a few of my convitcs shooting in and grabing a bite, ya they get chased away but its also a 150g tank and i think it would be hard to feed the fry with all the other fish, and stuff like that. i have a 10g that i was going to put them in untill i can move them to my 72 and then again back into the 150 when they are a little be bigger. i just wasnt sure how the mom and dad would react if i took them out of the tank.

It might be ok, the only thing is the parents may disown them and no longer view them as their offspring; this will happen eventually, but in this particular situation it would happen earlier on. As for feeding, yeah that could be a bit of a concern given the size of the aquarium. If you have a pipette you can try feeding them by squirting the food directly at the nesting area.

Oh and, no prob. :)

Can't really say without knowing how old they are. Do you know? Days/Weeks/Months? They may be too young to move, that's why I ask.
