Hey!
I have 18x12x18 planted tank with many plants whose name i dunno :/
here is a pic, not a good pic, sorry.

I have one 12 Flouroscent bulb, and one 1ft T5 tube(sigh dunno its wattage)
Do any of u think the light is enough?
The smaller plants look green and healthy till date, but no growth.. but the bigger plants turn kinda brown, and black and finally die. :(
i have 4 guppies,2cherry shrimp and 2 Tiny little angelfish in em :D
I used some sand provided to by the LFS, nd Controsoil Fert (dunno what it is)
i have a diy Yeast Bottle Co2 with a diffuser. (Seems to be of no help)
I run the Co2 during day, and turn it off by night.
I have a hang on the back filter (600 Litre per hour )

how many fishes can i add? have i overstocked it? how do i make the plants grow more lush green and healthily?
Please suggest.

DIY co2, shouldn't be closed with a valve, it will explode. It's making co2 and if closed for to long it will literally explode you don't want all that stuff all over the place. Sorry i never helped just wanted to make sure you don't have a explosion of yeast and sugar all over the place.

How old are the bulbs to the lights, i believe you have to replace them every year or two. The substrate seems right, the light seems right(Thats if they are under a year or two old), and you have co2. Don't turn the co2 off at night just leave it, if you find your fish gasping for air which I'm almost sure they wont but if you do just run a air pump at night to put some oxygen in the water, but you shouldn't have any need to just saying if you see your fish grasping for air. You also seem to have hardy plants. Your tank seems tall, maybe if your using old lights with the tallness of the tank that might be it.

How fast are they growing, some plants just dont grow fast, the whats seems to be Rotala in the back should be growing decently fast. BTW if the plants get to tall you can cut them and replant the trimming to make new plants. One last Question you have a heater right?

Thanks!! Yeah for the beginning I asked the guy for some hardy plants
The lights are brand new so it's enough I guess.I used the valves at times since the production co2 is very slow, but usually just remove inlet to the tank. I remove the co2 at night cuz the fish really gasp for air :/
The lfs guy told the tall plants are cabambas.

And I had a heater in the tank, but I removed it since the place I stay is REALLY hot,and with the added light the temp increases Outta control.I have a fan installed which I use frequently to cool the temp of the water.no heater.

Okay, your not supposed to cut it off with the valve and on top of that if you remove it from the take without the valve oxygen will rush in there and you will be pumping oxygen the next time you put it back in. DIY is not mean to be turned off, the only thing you could do is take you diffuser out so that there i just one big bubble coming out so not to much co2 is dissolving into the water at night, or the better was it to just get a air pump and turn it on at night. DIY is slow but for a 16g is should be more then enough, Especially if the fish are really gasping for air then you should defiantly have enough co2.

Okay the heater is fine but have a thermometer just to make sure when the temperature in the house drops you know and have the heater ready. Yeah those lights defiantly has a lot og heat to the tanks so the fan is a good idea.

One more thing the DIY co2 has to be replaced every 2 weeks, after 2 weeks to production of co2 is very slow and you wont be getting that much xo2 anymore.

Just got the drop checker today, and thermometer is hidden :D

The plant which seems to die all the time, is "banana" as told to me by the LFS guy..im gonna get rid of it, since its too big and dominating.
Gonna get some glosso .
and Yes i know the diy co2 runs, i gotta make the mixture all over again.

can u guys suggest a ground level plants which looks good and easy to maintain?:P

Got these snails today x2
