most aggressive centrel or south american chiclid for 50 gallon tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The single most aggressive fish I've ever kept was hemichromis elongatus (5 star general). Not a new world Cichlid but definitely worth mentioning since they seem to fit your criteria perfectly. You won't find any for sale but look for hemichromis frempongi. Stunning and vicious!

and who whould put a pair of pacu in a 55 gallon tank.

OK the title of your thread is "Most aggressive central or south American cichlid for a 50 gallon tank" it's a simple question with a fairly simple answer Convects, Neets and Salvini. There are many other cichlids that will fit, live, look nice, grow slow ect............... but that doesn't answer your question. As is always the case by the time you get to page 6 the original question is lost and it becomes a what cichlid does everybody like the best in a 50 gallon tank thread. The three cichlids above answer your question.

Many cichlids do not have common names, and if they do it can acutally refer to several different species (like red terror) so scientific names are MUCH better to use for a hobbyist.

for more of a wet pet personality that would fit in that tank you could do a female carpintis, they are personable and gorgeous
