african cichlid babies?

Definitely not fuelleborni. The male looks like Labidochromis sp. "Hongi", but the female is more of a mystery. She could be Metriaclima zebra OB, but obviously no one can be sure, for either of them.

really??????????????? have you ever seen an OB hongi???? I sure havent...

But you do cause my eyes to notice something here... I now think this may be a hybrid... the male I think is a hybrid Greshakei... note the elongated Pelvic fins and the Red Dorsal... The female has traits of a female Greshakei as well... if these two were bought from a LFS they are probobly related on top of that... they could very well be mixed with Metriaclima, but the other species/genus is the mystery...

No, I haven't seen an OB hongi, but I was saying that the male is a hongi, not the female. I have no ideas whatsoever about her. They could be greshakei, I suppose, mixed with OB estherae or zebra perhaps. All I know is that unless you get your mbuna direct from a breeder, there's no way of "knowing" what they are hahaha. Best estimates are all we have. I have a female "M. lombardoi" who is bright yellow haha.

So much debate on obvious hybrids. I seriously doubt it matters at this point. They didn't know what kind of fish they keep in the first place.. Why does it matter now?
No offense angelojg22...
but.. it's not like you're selling them(or at least I'd hope not)...
Cause you can't tell what the parents are now, and they're mature enough to spawn. So a buyer definitely wouldn't be able to know what they are paying for, with exception to their intention being to just buy something with fins and gills.

But for knowledge sake if you really wanna know.. Wait.

The male has the spots as well is what i was pointing out... and are you sure its a female Lombarodi???????

Female looks to be an OB Peacock. The head shape could be attributed to line breeding or poor genetics. But I'll have to agree that neither of them fit the Labetropheus category.

Well I just wanted to know what the parents were. I had no intentions in selling them I might keep some of the fry to see what they would look like when mature but other than that even if they weren't hybrid or aren't hybrid I'm not into the selling Africans cause you can never tell what most of them are due to the amount of hybrids

and are you sure its a female Lombarodi???????
Sorry about the threadjack, but yes sir hahaha I got my pure breed lombardoi from a reputable dealer I have contact with. And I know it's a female because she's holding eggs as we speak.

I am curious to see what they will look like, post some photos if you can (when the time comes) ... We'll wait and watch too

oh and you cant see in the pic but the female as you can see has blue out lining the pelvic fin but the one on the other side is just that brownish color
