Green Terror compatibility, 55 gallon?

Also its funny you think 1 EBJD can be in a 55 for life. They get 10 inches while a GT gets 8 inches.

Ok, GTs get larger than 8" I'm looking at one right now thats every bit of 8" at a year and a half old. They will reach 11 or even 12" given the time and proper conditions. Mine is swimming happly in a 220 with one less then a year old that's already 6.5 inches. Second an EBJD would be fine in a 55 for life if cared for properly.

I don't post if I'm not sure the advise I'm giving is sound and based on years of frist hand experiance not just somthing I read or cut and pasted from a web sight. Don't go down this road with me.
 
the species of fish in the pet store (petsmart) that are SA/CA cichlids are red oscar, tiger oscar, albino tiger oscar, green terror, red devil, keyhole, jack dempsey, black convict, firemouth, midas, blood parrot, and green severum, there is another store called marineland nearby but they are overpriced and i completely forgot about what they have so i am limited to the species listed above

Ya, well...I'm just going off what most reliable websites say; now I know not to.

@Cichlidfan I would go with a firemouth, a black convict, OR a keyhole. Or if you want your GT to be happier, just have him with a pleco or by himself. I would NOT get a oscar, red devil, or a midas. They get way too big for a 55g and will most likely harass your GT.

Nobody misunderstood you. There's nothing "perfect" about a 55 for a GT for life. It's like you living in a 4'x8' cell. And a keyhole would be like a feeder for a GT.

Please, your posts are full of wrong information. The OP is taking your post as a justification because that's what he wanted to hear and so he he doesn't have to be responsible for the miserable life that a GT is going to have.

Somebody has to say this - when you don't know what you are talking about, do not give out advice. There are consequences.
 
Most Cichlids get to large for a 55 gallon I would say get a bigger tank If you want anything to do with cichlids. A 55 is enough water to house the fish but they cant turn around in a 12 inch wide tank when they are full grown. 55 gallon is a grow out tank IMO.....

Holy crap you're not kidding. You should have seen me when I was trying to figure out the grown size of a Tigrinus. Every website says something different and even here you'll get a different answer from everyone you ask.

there are lots of cichlids that would work for life in a 55, gt isnt one of them. The whole crypto/archo/amatitlania families. Salvini, neets, bartoni. Lots of aequidens, krobia, and other smaller sa acara types. We need to have a sticky on fish suitable for a 55 for life as we seem to have a bunch of these threads every week.

Yup, you know EVERYTHING don't you? My answers aren't far off buddy...I don't see you trying to give him advice? Is it cuz you don't know what your talking about so you wont give out advice or is it because you like to put people down on threads because some of their advice is wrong? I bet you go around getting your post count up putting down fellow MFK members who are just trying to help. You could of just told me in a more polite way, but instead you have to be a f%($!@G @$$.

You want advice? I'll give you some advice. This is how I keep a single GT. It's only 8" and alone in a 120g. See how small it makes the tank look? Can you imagine it putting on a few more inches and living in a 55g?

I did not comment on the OP's plan because he made it plenty clear that he WILL keep a GT in a 55. There's nothing I or anybody else can say to change that. But I figured at least I should save a keyhole!

I don't understand you. You don't know what you are talking about, you pretend to and give wrong advice to doom other people's fish, you don't admit you are wrong, and you are complaining the way other people criticize you? Really?
