Adding more mechanical to my Ultima II filter?

I have an Ultima II filter and can't seem to get my water clarity clear. What are you Ultima guys using for mechanical? I was thinking of adding something after the filter to capture the finer particles while leaving the Ultima to do the dirty work first since its easier to clean it.

Any suggestions?

What size are you running and at what flow rate? Is the tank bare bottom. My home made filters are similar to the Ultima but doesn't require a separate mechanical.

On our large system we will be setting up, we will be using the Ultimas for our primary biological filtration. We will use four to six large spa filters run with Hammerhead pumps for our primary mechanical filtration. Since we will be using a large holding sump, I'm going to throw in several five gallon filter bags and some ceramic media for secondary mechanical and biological filtration. I'm assuming we won't have clarity issues, especially if we connect the Clarity CL-3 freshwater protein skimmer to the sump. If we don't have crispy water after that, I'm going to scream.
