Cooling the water without a cooler?

Yea i was thinking about that for a quick fix on extra hot days, but i was afraid that adding super cold ice might shock the fish or smth if they come to investigate it. So it worked for u? No fish was affected by it? Do you take the ice out of the bag and float it or keep it in the bag till it unfreezes and then freeze it again if needed?

BTW, on the really hot days, if I am around, I do about a 5% WC too, replacing the water at a temp of 65-70 degrees, that also works nicely!

Yea unfortunately that didn't work for me cuz on really hot days tap water here is hot too so it doesn't make any difference. I know cuz every week I do 50% wc and the temp is the same cuz the tap water comes from a roof top water tower. So basically it's the same temp like the water in my tank.
I tried the ice though and put 4 ice cubes floating and the temp went down 1 degree, so I guess it's the quickest fix untill I can install a fan. I'm just afraid the fish will b affected if I put alot of ice in there
