My new 2600 gallon plywood tank project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok water test proved the windows are leaking. Nothing was done to the tank except the silicone around the window and this time the tank help water up until the 32" mark without issue. Sunday it was leaking around the 24" mark.

Tank is empty once again and I will start to mask off the windows and begin to remove them. Figured I would try out the multi tool and see how that handles the silicone removal. If that doesn't work I will switch to using a wire and try to cut the silicone that way. Then scrape off the silicone after the window is gone. If things go well I should have the windows back in by end of the weekend.

I'm gonna want details on how you removed the windows.... I'll be doing the same eventually. :)
What have you decided to do differently for re-installing them?

Hang in there!

Is this your basement ? Never seen such a big space, you must live in a Mansion.

I'm not worthy...

Man I can't wait to see this tank done and complete...I have 2 leaks of my own on my 750 gallon plumbing and it's driving me nuts....

Tank is in a basement.. and not a mansion.. lol I wish.

After removal (Which I will document and detail out) I will put 2 coats of pond armor down under the window area then I am using DOW Primer C on the acrylic and pond armor sides to give the silicone more of a grip. The DOW rep suggested it. Then apply the DOW 795 once again after giving the Primer 30 mins to dry.

really hoping this works out for you!! it's been a long haul but keep your thoughts on the final product.... it might not feel like it now but all this is worth the end result!!

:D

A thread on this forum that you might want to read. It;s a post about silicone and someone that did a test of adhesion to acrylic between different kinds of silicone... ...
