Why is the first one upside down wtf? how long does it take for java fern to root to drift wood?

depends...ive heard some people say 1-2 weeks. mine never did. and ive had that mat for over 2 years now. i tied mine on with powerpro(fishing line). and yeah, you should weigh that piece down with a couple of rocks so that your ferns dont grow all twisted and all.
 
No i put the drift wood hanging from there the bass like it and it puts the ferns closer to the light for now. Also can some1 id the first bass for me. Ive had him the longest and he is the slowest grower.
 
I got a piece of driftwood with massive amounts of java fern rooted to it from a local craigslist deal and the guy I got it from told me it took him years to get it all rooted to it like that. GL.

P.S. Holy cow you have a serious stock in that tank. Hope it's at least over 200g.

did your question change from when you first posted? why was everyone talking about the floating driftwood? lol.

no idea how well it'll take for the fern to grow but the first cichla is an orino.
 
excellent thank you. ID on the other 2? im guessing one is a mono but im not sure his fins get real black when he's pissed
