So after deciding to tear down my Bichir set up and move on to Cichlids I've plan on having my ten gallons for the GBRs and 15 or 20G long. My question for you guys and gals is what type of breeding Cichlid I can keep in a 15 or 20G long (haven't decided do to money). The fry won't be raised in the tank with the parents, either they'll be given away or food for other fish so just the parents will be in the tank.

Thanks,
Justin

Kribs could be another option.
If you are looking for quantity, convicts are the rabbits of the cichlid world so you'll always have fry/juevies available.

In a 15, you could do a pair of apistos of some sort. In the 20 long, you could do a pair of cryptoheros (cutteri, convict, sajica, etc) if you have plenty of hiding spots for the female.

Thanks for the list and tips, I'll see what my LFS can get.

I really do like Kribs, now I'm not to familiar with them whats their max size?

Dwarf species are probably your safest bet. You could get away with Sajica or another small Archo/Crypto species in the 20 long, but it would be a bit tight.

If you can find them nanoloteus would be awesome as well as honduran red points(HRP). Both species rerely get bigger than like 4in.

These are the only two cryptoheros species I would consider in a 20 long. I have kept a pair of cutteri and I can tell you there's no way they would work long term in a 20 long.

How about Herotilapia multispinosa?
