2,000 litre Pangasius Pond.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the ID sharks can be fine for a long time in that 2000l tank, but that tank will be too small for the paroon!

Hopefully by the time the Paroon is well over a foot we will have moved to a bigger premesis or I'll construct a larger brick and tile pond. Possibly 10 foot wide and 36 inch deep. Plan is to sell 2 of the Paroons and possibly 1 of the ID's. That will leave me borderline on the limits providing the I'd only get to 15 inch, which they look set to do, and the Paroon maxes out at 30 inch. I've already upgraded twice so I'll do my best for them short of providing a river.

NO NO NO, Paroons do NOT max out at 30 inches, they max at about 4-5 feet in length. They are very active swimmers and will need a pond with a 5 foot deep x 20 x 10 foot foot print.

In addition to my cat, I'm wondering how I'd keep my kids out! I'd like to set up something similar to this for my ever increasing stock of Shubunkins and Sarasa comets, but I have enough trouble keeping my kids out of the regular tanks, let alone a "pool"...I do actually have canopies on some of my tanks and I'm continually amazed at what I can find "swimming" (or sinking) in the tank! As discussing with some local aFISHionados the other day, after considering all the pros/cons, maybe the fish can stay and the kids need to find a new home...trouble is, I could probably find a home for a half-dead/diseased fish before I'd find someone who wanted my little monsters. So, if I have to keep the kids, maybe I could design an interactive pool, but then I wouldn't want to share with them if I could be swimming with my fish!

They are active when they are young, but when they get to adulthood they'll slow right down. They only max out at 4 foot (very rarely near 5 foot) when they are in a river/lake/huge aquarium and introduced as an already large fish. 36 inch and I will be doing something very right. I tried my best for my ID sharks (which too get to '4 foot' if you believe the internet PC warriors) and could only get them to around 5 inch each! They haven't grown at all for 8 months so I guess they've maxed out.

Get one in the cellar, garage, loft or shed and put a lock on the door!

Check out TlkMDN's Paroon shark on Youtube. Still very active and about 4 feet. Sucks that your ID sharks have stunted, I got mine on the fourth of July and they're about one foot.
