I was wondering if any of the orino owners here have issues with their orino's swimming up and down the glass with their mouths touching.

I noticed since last night and today my orino has been swimming up and down and along the glass a lot. The lower lip to the front seems to have been ground down slightly. Is this normal ?

If not whats the problem and will the lip heal ?

they do that from time to time sometimes being upset sometimes hungry other times just not happy with suroundings....

It looks like a white color with a slight flat appearance. I did a 30 % water change today and put melafix in as a precaution. My water parameters are perfect.

That will heal like normal , right ?

Woooh!!! big guy No need to treat with meds his lip will heal no problem...

Thanks for the info. I took note of the being upset part and realized why he may be upset.

I removed the oscar and I did add a new 2 inch geophagus surinamensis yesturday afternoon. He did take a couple pops at it.

I think he dislikes it.

I just hope he stops with running the mouth in the glass so he does heal.

I just got a closer look at the orino lip.

It looks no better , maybe even worse.

It appears that a slight chunk was ripped out. I don't know how he did it but here are photos I just took showing this. He still is eating and looks active and healthy.

From the looks of things it appears the lip ring is broken out. This damage looks like it may last as permanent.

I hope not.
