Azul did not make it...bummer! Not sure what happen, water para were good, and he was even eating as if he had been starved. I mean he'd eat or try to eat 4 to 5 minnows at one time. They all be stucked in his mouth as if he was choking himself. Plus the minowos were always tail first with the head sticking out of his mouth. weirdest fish I had ever seen as if he did not know how to eat...

did u get that azul from rapps? I got two from him, one eats like a champ and is eating pretty much everything i throw at him ie. shrimp, hikari pellets, fd krill, bloodworms. The smaller one hasnt really taken an interest to food and his stomach looks sunken in. I'm worried he has worms/or a parasite.

REally sorry to hear about your azul , but you do have a Great collection ! looking forward to watching them grow and hope to see some feeding videos :D

I am a first time Cichla keeper and I am having a LOT of fun with my lil Orino's , I can just imagine what it would be like to have your collection!

Small Cichla can be very sensitive when they first arrive but Sorry to hear that you lost your Azul. You do have a very nice mix of Cichlids good luck and keep us updated.

Thanks all for the sentiments!
Yes, he was from Rapps, funny thing is I have been trying to get an Azul for a couple of year now to start a bass collection with one of each species. Not to mention I had been buying two of each species so I can pick the nicest of the group and sell the others, and go figure, the bass I choose to buy one of and wanted the most dies. (Murphy law at its finest), funny but sad! He was eating like a champ as well, but something took him out. It wasn't any of the other fish as he didn't have a scratch on him. Just makses no sense, may have been internal, as he was very, very thin. I don't think Jeff had them long enough to clear the parasites, if there was any. So the seach continues. Still need an azul and a xingu to complete my collection, but azul is priority as I like the fact that they are grayish and blue, which is so different from all the other variations of green and gold basses out there.

That sucks man, my larger azul from rapps after powerfeeding since friday night has put on some serious weight. His stomach is no longer concave, the same cant be said about the smaller one though. I'm putting him in the 40 gallon tonight and gonna give him feeders (cant believe im saying this, but dont wanna lose him). I emailed rapps and he said he used praziquantel and metronidizole to treat them for parasites and that praziquantel usually works after 1 use.

Yeah, I was pretty bumbed out about it. In fact I was so bumbed out I was thinking of selling the rest of the bass. Now my colletion is still not coomplete. I can't believe the bass I really wanted is no longer.
I am glad that your larger one is doign well, and hopefully the smaller one fatten's up as well.

bro you can't give up on all of your Amazing Pbass collection!!!
Granted you did loose one of them , but you never know you can always pick up another when one becomes available , right now you
have a collection that I can only dream about so please don't give them up cause you know you'll regret it later on

Yes, I know but considering I was only going to keep one of each species anyway. And to think I was so sure a 6in Azul would have survived hence buying only one, that I bought two of the other for that same reason if something happend to one of them I'd stll have one. What luck

Wait a couple months, you'll see them for sale soon.
