the invictas are priced right and really nice and well made watches...i personally own a grand diver, sub aqua noma 3, and the invicta ii with many more on the wish list.

Automatic watches like Rolex is not accurate at all. They run on how active you are. The most accurate is the quartz watches. Most of the quartz watch battery needs to be changed every 2 years or so.

That's actually true. You're correct. Movement can influence accuracy.

The Tags and Rloex watches and so forth are nice of course but they are out of the range of what he is willing to pay...What about Timex, don't they make a good watch for the money?

Yes. Timex gives you a good watch for what you pay for one. It just won't hold up. You will lose coloration and looks fade quickly.

thats why I said "used"....Rolex stay way too high but a nice tag can be had for 600-800 bucks!

Yeah, the lowest price I have seen for a pre owned Rolex was about thirtyfive hundred dollars. The only Tag watches I have seen that were under 800 were styles that did not appeal to me.

I would never wear a cheap watch. It's like your only acceptable man bling besides your wedding ring in a formal setting. There's PLENTY of things I skimp on in life, but something like this is not one of them.

The work of art is in the watch's engine/movement. Only automatic/mechanical watches deserve that by the way, IMO. I for one don't like the "tick per second" on the quartz watches...just me.

Even high-end brands (even rolex) used to not making their own movements, i.e. they bought swiss made movements and drop them into their watches. They've changed it in recent time though. Seiko and Orient have always made their own movements in their watches.

If you see watches simply as a piece of jewelry like a ring, then buy and wear only what looks good on you. But for me, I also want to appreciate the self-powered engine in the watch working hard to keep accurate time.

BTW, do you prefer a rolex with a 21,600 BPH movement or a cheaper brand with a 28,800 BPH movement?
