Shopping for watches, need suggestions...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Plenty of good dealers online but be SURE to go try on the watch at a local dealer before making this type f purchase as you have to ensure fit, weight, look, ect.

One day I will have a Rolex. It is one of those watches that I would love to have THOUGH I have more requests first as I work for a SW company and thus I go to work in jeans and a t shirt most days. A rolex would be way out of place. HA HA. That is why Fossil and my Eco Drive are on my wrist most of the time.

One thing that is not brought up here is to make sure you get a nice watch case. It keeps them safe, look great, and if needed you can get one to keep your watch wound. Totally worth the small investment.

2nd from bottom would b my pic out of your orig picks. I like simple classic watches, if you can get one cheap look into the moved fire tungsten carbide. Square is more common but I absolutely love my round one. The nice thing since tungsten is nearly indestructible buying a used one is a good investment only the back will get scratched which nobody will ever see

No offense to Rolex owners but..... To be honest I never understood the Rolex mania (I understand why people are buying a Rolex from an investment perspective ,since they will never drop its value) , but other than that you're buying just an impersonal status symbol, every d0uchebag lawyer, banker or car dealer has one....they are not even making their own movements and their designs are dull at best. There are tons of watches way more expensive with higher rated movements and waaaay more attractive designs and yet when people are referring to luxury watches, Rolex is the first name that comes up. .....I guess the power of advertising and the following mentality at its best...I know I'll probably get alot of heat for this but I had to say it LOL

You have several stereotypes . . . All lawyers are not bad people. Im not a car salesman, banker or laywer. It's all about personal taste. Some might like the look and style of a Rolex, while some might prefer a Beitling or Patek Philippe. People have always shown appreciation for goods that elevate their status, be it cars, clothing or watches. We all have different opinions. You used the term, "Mania." Mania is usually used with things that come and go. Rolex has been around since 1908 and they have made big contributions to the development of fine time pieces. Rolex is not a fad. And, while I appreciate a Rolex, I also collect other watches.

Hey guys, been a while. Thanks for all the feedback and opinions. I spent lots of time looking at watches online and decided I had to see it in person. I just couldn't buy a watch online without seeing it's real size and quality first hand. I ended up going with the Armani watch from Macy's (actually bought it online for $70 cheaper). When I saw it I knew I that was it. The attention to detail is great and I really like the band color. Not too bright and not too dark. I also like the blue face and the copper accents. The watch is Japan movement, so it's decent. My Japan movement Kenneth Cole has been running like a champ since 2002, aside from a few battery changes.

There's some nice watches posted here, but they were more than I wanted to spend. And definitely no on the Rolex. That's a little too pretentious for me :) A watch is just a watch to me, more like a fashion accessory, I don't need it to make a statement about myself. I'll spend that money on other toys that I'll enjoy more.

So here it is!
