Who here uses grand sumo or ching mix for flowerhorns or are they just marketing gimmicks like alot flowerhorn names. I know that the kok seem to be a genetic thing, but would like to intensify some my flowerhorns colors that are not your Lfs type of flowerhorn. Any thoughts or opinions are welcome.

Any decent quality fish food will get the job done, there is no need to feed overpriced foods that are marketed as FH specialty foods. A fishes color & kok size is primarily determined by the genetics of the fish, the rest from the overall care that you give the fish.

I feed mine a mix of NLS and Hikari Gold with snacks of krill, bloodworms, and other stuffs.
Good lighting can also help with the coloration depending on what specturm of light you're running.

thats a great combination..NLS should be fed on a regular basis, hikari gold can be fed along with it sometimes,u can also try hikari cichlid excel instead of gold.
