Go with a fx5....I never hear anything good about the g6...I know the fx 5 works great for me and keeps my water crystal clear...

That's usually only an issue with the wet/dry type filters eheim makes.
Overall the FX5 is probably one of the; if not the best, bang for buck filters you can buy.
BTW O.P - Don't bother with the G6 filters. They're just overdressed canister filters, that can only do half of what an FX5 does without an LCD screen. IMO

Eheims are so much better than fx5.
If you compare all the threads of Fx5 going wrong vs eheim going wrong. Then fx 5 looses big time.
Eheim is better:- build, quality,design, power consumption, noise output , bio capacity, ease of maintenance and reliability.
No brainer really. I used to say I'm never gonna get eheim. Cause price. But eventually i did. I never regret spending more as they are well worth it.
I still have 2 fx5 running on 225 uk g tank. But also have eheim 2260 , 2080 pro 3 and eheim internal 2252.
That internal pumps 1200 L/Hr. Amazing. I stuff carbon in it and it polishes the water crystal clear. Even with 3 rays and 9 tiger fish.
