I got 2 of them from Wes a couple weeks ago. They are doing well on Gambusia, tilapia pieces and small earthworms. They won't touch blackworms. One has a preference for earthworms and only reluctantly eats the tilapia or Gambusia.

Mine have a canister filter and a huge sponge filter and are kept at about 70F.

After reading this its got me a little worried now. Mine is still alive! But as noted it ate real good the first week till its stomach bulged. Now it seem to stop eating that I can see. I think its eating but not as aggressively as before. I tried blackworms never had a fish not eat worms. Just ignores them even when they hit mouth. Temps around 75 real high water flow in the tank. He likes to get right up into the current against the glass. Its amazing how its able to stick to the glass with the current blasting him with bubbles. He really likes fast moving water is able to sit against the strong current without any effort. I was thinking of trying garlic to maybe to induce him to eat more

I only feed mine every other day, allowing them to digest the food completely. In the wild, they eat when they catch food, which can be far and few between, and sometimes it could be an oversized prey at once. I've heard of several dying in customers' tanks, and also some still alive after 2-3 weeks later. I personally have not lost one yet after the first day.

I was kinda thinking that they don't need to eat everyday. I do think its eating when the lights are out. I moved in a bunch of Platy's I been raising from another tank so he can eat them if he wants too. I still put cut shrimp in the tank every nite and siphon out what ever still sitting around everyday. Maybe he ate the first week a lot cause he was really hungry from not getting much from being imported.

all 4 of my yarrelli are healthy and growing fast...I waited a long time to get some and made accomaditions ahead of time to do so. If you've never read about them dont order it. Its just like any other rare specimen and needs some special attention if you want it to thrive. People who are having problems keep in mind these fish live in cold mountain rivers with extreme current and you need to recreate that or your done from the start. Mine are in a 65 with canister filter, ac110, uv sterilizer, powerheads and no heater. Their next tank will b a 230 then 650. I even switched to l.e.d. lighting because my regular flourecents were making the water to warm. I would never put this fish in a tank with others, its common sense because there extremly hard to come by. Wes im sorry if your getting some flack from people for these fish. I truely appreciate what you do and my fish came in, in excellent health and already take an array of foods. Dont give Wes a bad name for your mistakes, own up to it and learn for the future. I would sell almost every fish in my house to accomodate these guys....think about it? Wes if i had more $ id take the rest so they go to a good home. Thanks again Wes
