If you are doing a peacock tank, get a good strain of Sunshine peacock. They are STUNNING as adults, aspecially if you can find a good breeder with a good blood line. If you go mbuna, get some msobo deep cichlids. Im not sure of their scientific name, something magunga i think. They are amazing fish, not really rare but not often seen in tanks or at local fish stores or big chain stores.(In my area, and from the tanks I have seen in my life) They are amazing fish to look at and to keep. Even the females are beautiful(I have a good strain and the females are the PUREST yellow I have ever seen) If you are doing Victorian species, pundamilliua nyererei are beautiful when mature. I have fry at the moment, but never had adults. I have seen pic's and videos of them though, breathtaking when in breeding mode. When you decide on which species you want to keep, I suggest looking into the synodontis catfish. There are hundreds of kinds, some really rare and some are fairly common. Some get huge, and some stay small. BEST FISH I HAVE EVER OWNED. I have 10 multipunctatus and 2 lucipinnis and one angelicus. I recommend them to any fishkeeper with suitable tank mates and a clean tank with high quality water.
