What is this cool looking critter/is that what I think it is?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That would be a Slipper Lobster/Balmain Bug/Butterfly Fan Lobster (Ibacus peronii), they are reef safe and can be in with other fish

& Idk if you meant bristle sea star or brittle sea star but heres some brittle sea stars for sale (I'm not sure what you mean by "in rocks" though),

Thanks for the name, I guess there extremely rare...don't see anyone for sale on the computer. I'm not really an impulse buyer, I would research more if I know they were available and at a good price.

I will continue searching, you've made my search easier lol thanks appreciated

Np, I believe it was in tonight's divers den on liveaquaria.com...seems someone bought it though :(

If you really want one though, I would sign up for diver's den updates on liveaquaria and they will email you with sneak peaks of the fish they have coming in and then you will have the chance to buy it before someone else does. They might not get another one in for awhile though. (http://www.liveaquaria.com/DiversDen/DDemailSignUp_form.cfm)

Yeah thanks for the info, I should start checking my mail more often as I'm on alert lol...since Im pretty good with the fish in my tank I forgot about inverts.

Thanks A Million for your help, btw I meant the sea stars as hitchhikers..

Btw how did you get that link? It was purchased don't they take of anything that has been posted if bought?

thats the new transformer. lol

Ya they do take the link off after they get bought, I had to go into my email and click on the Diver's Den Update email and click on it there...the next day they remove that ability though :) lol

Also is it possible to get lots of baby bristle star fish in rocks, common much?

Yes, though only uncured, as I've found the poor "curing" process most places use kills off most cool stuff. Also, (at least at my LFS) I've found that there are lots of brittle, or serpent star babies (hard to tell which when really small) on corals that are attatched to larger rocks. I believe this is because corals don't go through the curing process so more hitchers can survive.
