My crib
So I was all set on an acrylic tank due to weight and clarity. However, I just spoke with a guy with lots of experience who said with monster tanks one should really go with glass bonded with steel and wood seams (not glass on glass) due to durability and the seams of acrylic not holding up as well (unless seamless build which is to dang expensive)

What is your experience with acrylic vs glass monster tanks?

Is this guy with lots of experience selling a 500+ glass tank? For a 500+ tank, acrylic is preferred by many as it is way way lighter, and if the panels are 1" thick and PROPERLY made, it should last a lifetime. You literally need 10+ people to move a 500+ glass tank, .....with acrylic, 4 strong guys is enough. I've helped move monster fish tanks both glass and acrylic and let me tell you I never want to move a glass monster tank ever again! the downfall being that acrylic tanks are much more expensive new and can scratch easier.

the "wood seems" sound more like a DIY pond with a glass/acrylic pane which many members here have built. More of a indoor pond vs aquarium.

You should refer that guy to MFK.

Acrylic makes the most sense.

Acrylic for the win cuz in the end you will have a broken back trying to lift a 500 gallon + glass tank...
