Hey guys, I have a 3" Red tailed cat and im getting scared because im seeing things about people over feeding them all over the place. I got him yesterday and so far he's had two little ripped off tailes of a prawn, a little piece of raw chichen (tiny like pencil lead thick) and then this morning hes just had two 1cm cube size prawn pieces. Am I doing this right or what? My planned schedual is two pieces of prawns two times a day.

Sorry I know there is lots of information on feeding but it never says how much and how often, thats what I'm looking for. I will expand his died once i get the chance.

I would try an start feeding massivore pellets since the RTC is still young. But I think your doing fine right now.

no sucj thing as over feeding them to be honest. i fed mine once a day as much as he could eat and once he got over 10in i moved to every other day and now he is at about 20 in and gets fed usually every 3 days as much as he can eat.
mine eats shrimp talapia blue gill and sometimes trimmings from steak and fish when i cook

Ok, cheers. This has helped a lot. Its suprising how much information there is on this but none gives specific amouns over specific time preiods like you did.

alot of people on here are scared to voice what they did bc there are a thousand people waiting to flame you about your ways. but i just simply dont care.
i would hope you ont do exactly what i did. do what you think is right man. i based my feeding off of natural habits of catfish. if they find food they gorge untill they cant eat anymore and then find a spot and digest. they arent like active predators like bass and such that are constantly feeding.
good luck on this guy. i hope you are ready lol they get big fast and need alot of filtration.
alot of people dismiss the warnings and then let the fish suffer.

Thanks dude. I never thought about what you said about the natural feeding. that is very true. And yeah ive got him in a 45 lirte storage box turned in to a little tank at the minute and then ges going in a 180 which i hope will house him for a year, maybe more? I never know why people buy a rtc with a 10 gallon then move it to a 30 gallon then move it to a 55 then a 75 and so on, you may as well as get them a decent sized tank to start in then get him something for adulthood like a pond.

Have you got a pond in mind at all?
Good luck with the RTC
