Mega clear vinyl prototype tank build (concept building)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you say umm no.. Like I was wrong. Are you not concerned with your investments?
Your cost meaning final cost of the product... How is the final product cost not an expense of the business owner? Someone else funding the project?
Your previous comment came across as if you were saying he doesn't care what the customers costs are, he just wants to be as cheap as he can to make big profits.
Now that may not be what you meant, but thats how it looked.
He was simply saying that such a perception is not the case: that he is concerned about the end result cost to the customer.
If it's too expensive for the customer, then it doesn't matter how cheap he can make them, there is no point in doing it.

Why would he make a cheap liner if the end cost was equal to existing tanks? If he only cared about his production costs?
The only reason for doing something like this is to provide a better product at a cheaper cost. If he happens to make a little money in the process, well that's a good thing.

I hope he makes money. Otherwise what is the point. We all get out of bed to work to feed and shelter ourselves. Don't see why it would be any different for this..

I just thought it went without saying that the cost of a product for a biz directly rolls down to the consumer. So if it is cheap for a biz then they can afford to sell it cheap. If the biz has to invest more into creating the product then of course it would cost more for the consumer.
So my point was as a biz... it would be optimal to avoid incurring additional production expenses to keep the final price tag down so the product would be a feasible solution for the fish keeper.

There at least five or six plywood and cinder block tanks on this website are suffering from small and miro leaks that this system would really help get finished so this is one of the reasons why I like the idea of this thing being worked on.

Made some modifications to the frame.

1 1/2" square pipe sistered up to a 2x3 column tied in to same on other side of frame with 3/8" threaded rod.

Underside (note to self: remove rod before trying to pick up with fork lift)

Zoomed out view. Notice the block mid span on the threaded rod. That is actually 2" black pipe--my rods weren't long enough so I had to bolt them both to this pipe.

I'm going to fill it up again on Monday. I don't remember if I talked about this earlier in the thread, but we're thinking this model would be the "Backyard Fish Tank" in our lineup. Although it won't provide perfect viewing of your fish, it would look very sharp complimenting an outdoor kitchen/relaxation area.

Of course in these pictures it looks similar to a pile of poo; I think if it were dressed up in redwood timbers or stacked stone, it would look awesome. ...build a little gazebo around it for shade, put tons of lighting in it so it will be well illuminated at night. Maybe need to do some geothermal water temperature regulating, but I'm loving the idea.

Hope you guys are too.

Well I am looking into an outdoor above ground koi pond, catch is its gotta be portable since I'm going into the Air Force and this would be perfect, unscrew the wood frame take out the liner and pack it up

bulging has been greatly reduced with the addition of the center support.

Anyone have some monster fish I can borrow, so we can see what this thing looks like in action? I'm having a hard time determining if the distortion would be too distracting. My feeling is that, with large fish, it wouldn't be, but smaller fish would be very hard to keep track of.

Maybe I'll throw my goldfish in there tomorrow.
