What type of New Life Spectrum should I get?

rrcoolj ........ contact Bobby or Mike @ D&S Aquatics, they should be able to set you up with some 2mm Medium Fish formula.

The best type of NLS is the one that comfortably fits your fishes mouth. :)
If the fish spends too much time chewing, then simply dial down a size. Clockwork gave a pretty good rough guide as to matching pellet sizes to the size of a fish.

The Jumbo floating formula is easier for a fish to chew due to the honeycomb type voids in the pellet (which cause it to float) but I have yet to come across a cichlid that can't be trained to eat the various non floating pellets. Some just take a bit more effort than others. Once trained most fish will inhale whatever you toss in, like it's their last meal. :)

One word of caution - NLS is a very potent nutrient rich food, when switching a fish to NLS feed very sparingly for the first several days to allow the fishes digestive system to adjust to the new food, just as one would when changing a dogs diet.

I like this guide. I have been trying to find something appropriate for my cubans now that they have passed the 4" mark. The 1mm seems too small and the only other larger size I have is the 3mm. Where do you guys get the 2mm med. fish formula? I cannot find it.

Just a rough guide. I've got my cubans on 4.5mm floating right now actually. They seem to prefer eating from the surface, my 125 gallon stock don't go for it (although I could easily train them to).

Mine seem impartial. They willingly eat from the surface and like sifting the sand for pellets aswell. Since the pellets sink quite a bit ends up on the sand, rockwork, etc. Even the silver dollars have no problem picking pellets off the sand. I cannot wait until my cubans are as big as yours.

I use Thera +A jumbo.

I cut up the pellets to make it easier (and less messy) to eat since neither of my fish are very big.

I think they're around 4-5 years old, so don't be impatient. ;)

Oh lord I am so impatient when it comes to keeping fish lol. I just want my male to get to 8" and I will be happy. The cubans are the first species besides my mbuna I have kept for this long so I am not going to give up on them now. We will see how big they are after their first birthday.
