Sad scratch on my 180g...

damn ma cousin did the same crap to my 180 he took the pads off my mag float in my tank and left a a huge scratch on the inside of my tank form the top left to the bottom right like 20" long it looks like this _ - - - -_ - - _ - all etchy and crap
if it makes you feel any better whilst i was at work my mum decided to feed my snakehead and clarias' well she is quite nervous of the fish and hovered over the tank with the food for to long and my big clarias come up and cracked my lid
Hello; Let me rephrase, You did not mention IF the parents of the child stepped up and offered to pay for the damage or are you stuck with it.
uh yea right. I assume you have no kids. its family, its a kid. If you don't want a kid to scratch glass don't leave something that will scratch glass within reach. My 1.5 year old dumped a cup of coffee on my lap top, that is my fault not hers.
while it sucks, that's life, kids are destructive

I can see your point that you are stuck with the damage from your own 1.5 year old. It is less clear why your brother/sister would not be responsible for the damage their child caused to your property. I can see how you can decide to let it go for the sake of family dynamics. That would be you personal choice, but should not the parents of the child be responsible for the damage they cause even in the family.
Would the parents of a child be responsible for the damage the child did to a persons property who is not a relative??

Reading the OP it says that his nephew was having fun feeding the fish, so i'm assuming that he allowed his nephew to feed his fish, and therefore should have been watching him. So should the parents still be held responsible ? Although it's not nice... S**t happens. It seems that's the attitude the OP has too, i could have read it wrong though
