If the green water problem is caused by algae from too much light, water changes will not help. Been there, tried that. Minimizing light on the tank would work.YOu could also do more frequent wc's to help w/ green water. DO NOT use chemicals!
Fish keeping in general doesn't make you feel like a geek? I'm pretty sure most people would think being really into fish keeping is way more geeky than knowing a simple thing like how to upload a photo. Lol
I don't know if you realized it, but you forgot to decorate your 360. I hope your bigger tank will be a little more inspired.
MY advice right now after all the trouble that you have been having ..If your water is testing good as of right now DORN is if there is a slight green let it be for right now live with it you have a UV installed Right??? i would say the bulb is not working if your water is green for sure get another bulb and or check and see if it's even working but DO NOT MESS WITH YOUR REGIMENT RIGHT NOW IF YOU ARE GETTING A DECENT RESULT LET EVERY THING SETTLE DOWN you will put to much stress on the fish ......My water now has cleared up pretty good but it has a slight light green tint to it....I don't know how to get rid of that...Does anyone have advice on that?
If the tank gets a lot of light, and your water parameters are good, you might consider a UV sterilizer. Our 300 gallon tank is in sunlight all day and it quickly developed a green water problem. The UV sterilizer we added quickly cleared up the green water.

At this point, with UV in place and filter kicked in, you need something to polish the water. Could be you're not turning enough water through the filter.

Believe me i do not like cleaning filter socks all the time but you need Mechanical filtration if you want crisp looking water if there is nothing taking small particals out your water will never be totally clear....You have to do what the tank needs to be satisfied......I'm wondering what polishing pads do u guys recommend to use in my sump? I'm waiting to have my drip plates made to see if that and a filter pad inside of it will help catch more of the waste...As for now i'm doing what hulon said just chillin lol..
