Hey guys, I currently have one parachromis friedrichsthalii and one parachromis managuensis and I was wondering if it is possible to cross breed them seeing as they are both of the same genus and have fairly similar physical traits. If this is possible or if anyone has done this before I would really like to know.
also how do you put them in the same tank together without them killing eachother?

WHY?

I'm not sure on the breeding portion of the question. The best way to reduce aggression when introducing a new tank mate is to take both fish out of the tank, rearrange the decor of the tank, and then reintroduce them both at the same time.

Are you certain you have a Freddy? Show us pics....I still kick myself for not getting a pair when I had the chance to.

Why not become a responsible hobbyist and breed fish of the same species? There are too many hybrids in the hobby today. If you like hybrids, keep em but don't breed em.

im almost positive that it's a freddy, it doesn't have stripes, but it does have a very bright yellow coloring, i will upload pics of it soon

It is possible to be a responsible hybrid breeder. IMO this crossing would not be responsible. Jaguar genes are strong and most will look very jag-like. I'd advise against it. Crossing it with a more distantly related fish like a synspilum or festae will yield much nicer fish. If you truly have a real freddy I'd breed it with another freddy. Freddys are pretty hard to come by.

Keep hybridizing fish and many true species will be hard to come by.
