Is this a Festae? or Red Texas?

im nowhere near close to an expert but the pattern on the fish reminds me of the Amphilophus Chancho in this pic (btw this isn't my pic just something i remember seeing from google)

This cichlid does have a bit red on its face on the last two pix, I'm not sure chancho's have that?

They sold it to you as a festae so it's most likely a Mayan (cichlasoma urophthalmus) a.k.a the false red terror. Happens very often when people buy "festae" at the pet shops.

Its definitely no festae, texas or amph.... I think maybe a hybrid but theres no reason to jump to conclusions... I say let it settle and post pics in another week maybe we can give a better id

Doubt it, I have seen plenty of mayan's(False Festae).
I guess I will post another picture of him in a week or so.

Not a festae or a mayan. Both have a spot (albeit different in size and shape) on their tail and a certain stripe pattern (festae with a Y shape). This looks like a hybrid to me.
