Does anyone know the meaning and name of this symbol...

I going waaaay out on a limb here, but I can remember asking a friend about it literally over 20 years ago, and he told me it's an old Celtic (sp?) cross, on a ring. Anybody know??

it is a ankh,Egyptian symbol of life.... just as krichardson said... but it could also be called a celtic cross i believe..

a Celtic cross is your standard cross with a circle around the intersection of the horizontal and vertical segments.
