small clay pots work really well
Thanks... Can someone explain to me what a live bearer actually is?
small clay pots work really well
I want to start breeding feeders to make things a bit more cost efficient so I want to know what fish is easiest to breed ( I don't care what they are as long as they go like rabbits....) Also could this/any fish breed in a ten gallon?
Breeding the COnvict cichlid is the best startup fish to begin with.............These cichlids have been known to breed in 5 gallon buckets...........78-82 degrees........BAsic pellet feed twice to three times a day...........If their is a male and female in the tank, there will be fry(baby fish)..............Regular spawns have 50-300 fry...........These fish can breed up to three times per month...........Female have red to orange blotches on their bellies....Male shave regular solid body coloring......There are three color variants...........Marble, ALbino , normal..........Whatever the case the tone of the sexual differances still remain the same.........Eggs hatch after three days.........Then the parents watch over the fry.........It is best to remove the fry after hatching into a seperate tank, preferably a 20-55g.........When they start swimming, feed the fry baby brine shrimp..........
Hmm.. I like that idea which do you find easiest to breed?A fish that has live fry instead of laying eggs. Guppies, mollies, platies, and swordtails are the most common livebearer fish.
all livebearers bredd readily. if you go with convict you need to be prepared for frustration. after 2-3 spawns the male will beat the S$*T out of the female. they really need a 20 gallon to breed. if you went with mollies/platys/guppies you will need alot of plant cover because they will eat their young. your best bet IMO is red cherry shrimp or marbled crays. marbled crays are self cloning and dont need anything special. so 1 cray will make about 200 babies. its also sketchy feeding live feeder FISH because they may carry disease and you dont want your pretty pbass to die from one stupid feeder.
Keep whatever container you breed the feeders in, in good condition and clean, and check for any sick fish often in the breeding tank and it should.yeah but if they are home bred by myself in good conditions doesn't that eliminate disease to a point?
