I have a 90 gallon tank with two 3'' ID sharks and i recently bought 6 guppies for feeders and i put them all in there. The sharks havnt been paying much mind to them i think they may have eaten 1. Anyways i was cleaning the tank and saw 2-3 tiny guppies swimming around. I understand these are livebearers but is it possible to just buy a bunch of guppies and let them breed and live with my sharks? From what i am seeing the sharks arnt going nuts eating them so im not worrying about them over-eating right now. Is this possible? And what are the consequences of over-eating if they decide to randomly go crazy and eat all the feeders? I just set this tank up last week so they are still being acclamated and getting used to the tank.

they shudnt over eat. but shove guppies in there but make sure you Quarantine them 1st incase they have diseases

how do i quarintine?

If you have a hospital tank then put them in there for about 2 weeks and see if any signs of disease show. If no signs of disease are present, you can assume its safe to add them to your tank with your other fish.

My ID sharks are fattys! They eat so much sometimes they look as if they are about to explode! But they do fine even when there bellys are HUGE! If I threw some guppies in there i'm sure they would eat them all!

LOL. I have 3 that are 11-12 inches and I have two albino ID sharks that are about 4+ inches right now growing out in another tank. The big ones are fatties but the little ones are worse! I bought the albinos at around 3 inches... maybe even smaller... less than a month ago. They eat ANYTHING!!! I have the albinos in my tank full of clowns and they steal the clowns sinking wafers and swim around with them in their mouth till they can rip a piece off. They swallow the piece and pick up the wafer again and continue. They do this to hikari algae wafers. I just got a 2.2 lb bag practically free (25$ for two 2.2lb bags of wafers). The hikari sinking wafers (same deal as the hikari algae wafers) they pretty much eat/swallow the whole thing!!! They get so fat I think they are going to explode or just die on the spot. I think that is why they grow so fast... In my big tank the big guys gulp at the surface when I throw their pellets in. They eat anything too!!! I have fed/seen them eat sliced up cucumber, zucchini, yellow squash, and even chunks of fresh raw garlic!!! Pretty much anything I throw in there. They will jump in front of my slver aro while he is lunging for his NLS ex. lg. formula floating pellets to steal them from him (the aro) and get whacked in the process! It don't even phase them and they swim away happy when they are successful (but it irritates me). Such fatties... they're going to have to go in the pond soon... To think about it the big ones acted exactly like the smaller ones I got when they were that size. FATTIES!!!
