Lighten up and calm down....In the first place I don't have any heroes that I don't know personally and I certainly don't know any of these people. As for Paterno talking to the police,I don't know what he told them but whatever it was it was up them to consider the information and act on their decision.

You calm down and lighten up! I don't know what Peterno told or didn't tell police either, but they made a god out of him and as he addmitted he could of done more. They even erected a statue out of their living legend. Paterno was Penn State ask anyone that went there. And what their god said went. Read the grand jury report on Sandusky then see if you will still cry because Joepa got shi% canned. The promblem with making idols out of sports figures or football coaches as in Penn States case.

I'm not going to cry or rejoice no matter how things eventually turn out for Paterno.Unless of course it turns out that he was also taking showers with children, and is dealt with.In that caseI will be happy to see him meet his punishment.Yes of course Paterno was a god like figure there, and he stated that he could have done more in this situation but he did do something.I don't know if he ever went to Sandusky and confronted him with the allegations that were brought to him but that's where most people I know and do look up to would have started.

Sucks what happened and how it happened, but I'm so excited that Paterno is finally gone...been waiting for that for YEARS. They should have fired him a long time ago. The alumni tried to force him to quit, but he wouldn't. If he stayed long enough, he probably would have gotten killed being run into on the sidelines.

He was getting pretty old to be coaching; I'm pretty sure that he sat up in the box to avoid getting another broken hip.

Awesome! So my post from earlier was deleted. To the mod that did this, plz pm me. thanks.

anyone know anybody that idolizes joe pa? i don't. he's a recognizeable sports figure but i doubt many dads are saying son, i want you to grow up to be just like that man! Doesnt make him any less legendary. micheal jordan was a great basketball player just like joe pa is a legendary football coach, doesn't mean mj was a good person. he was a notorious bully, notorious womanizer, notorious gambler etc etc etc. we can do down the list and do this with most sports icons. doesn't make them any less of a legend for what they did on the court, sideline, field, ice etc etc.

most people can seperate the person from the sports icon.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- An Associated Press analysis shows former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno is in line for a huge pension, thanks to six decades of service and recent salary of more than $500,000 a year.
Paterno's pension records obtained Tuesday from the State Employees' Retirement System show his average pay over the past three years was $554,000. He's been in the system long enough to qualify for 100 percent of that -- or 110 percent thanks to a longevity supplement for older people who remain at work.
But Paterno hasn't retired yet. A number of factors could determine his pension amount, including Internal Revenue Code and Retirement Code benefit limits and how much cash he withdraws upon retirement.
The 84-year-old Paterno lost his job last week. He says he wishes he did more about abuse allegations against an assistant coach.

I really feel like JoePa was not treated fair. I know I know he didn't do the right thing but please hear me out. JoePa is a legend, he's been on the staff since the 1940's. Thats just unbelievable. His entire career he has stressed that other things come before football, unlike almost every other coach, and has created some amazing teams. I know that he slipped up big time, however he did tell someone who in turn chose not to tell anyone. I feel like people are treating JoePa like he commited the crimes. I know I'm way to young to understand what its like to see this from a parents perspective, so I feel like i can be neutral because I'm also not a Penn State fan. He should be relieved of his duties, but let him finish out the season. They completely disrespected him and told him he was fired over a brief phone call. At least have the dignity to tell him face to face. That is all I have to say about this situation.

More rumors about to be investigated....gets worst for State Penn.....I mean Penn State.......

Paterno got himself a self inflicted wound. He should have resigned when he could. Instead he went on TV and dared the board to fiere him by announcing that the board should spend time on other things besides his case and told the world he was retiring at the of the season. The rest is history......
