What should i add to my 500g?

If you are worried about disease buy them from a hatchery or here
 
You kinda got to go with whatever suits your fancy. You'll probably change many times what fish you keep by how they get along with each other. When I reset up my 300 from having a salt fish in it. I had visions of big central american cichlid tank. But after a while of having them and constant fighting over territories I wanted more calmness in the tank. Fish that all got along with each other and settled on mostly big barb species.
 
im thinking of trying some geophagus. anyone think i can get away with it? i might need to get rid of my gar since i dont trust one of the little guys and the odoe is a spaz.

A Dovii. A Dovii or Umbee would cause problems at some point. Your ray could get hurt and they could or would get stung at some point. They really do best as solo or pairs, even in that tank I think they will not play nice in the long run.
