i have a 90 gallon tank with 2 Tiger Oscars and im upgrading to the fx5 and wanna add a UV sterilizer becouse of the bright light the room gets and alge growth, some say run a UV some say dont. Never the less im going to get a coralife turbo twist and was wondering should i hook it up to run with the fx5 or should i run the turbo twist off of a power head. What watt UV should i run if i go with the fluval and what watt and pump gph should i go with if i use a powehead?

Each model turbotwist has a different max flow rate, exceed this and you won't get the full benefit. Best bet is getting the model rated for the tank larger than yours and buying an appropriate sized pump.

The UV sterilizer will not help much with algae growth. The UV will only control algae floating in the water (green water). Algae needs nutrients and light to grow. To control algae in tanks don't overfeed or overstock your tank. Keep up with your scheduled water changes. Control the amount of light that the aquarium receives.

make sure you run some balls valves or check valves. When you have to replace the bulb it will be a mess with the water in the turbo twist and in the tubes. I know cause I have one and just replaced it last week.

you should not be spilling any water replacing the bulb on a turbo twist. The bulb is separated from where the water flows by clear hard plastic tube.

oh yah that's right. I forgot and unclipped the red clip which spilled all the water. you have to unscrew it. Crappy thing was that when you screw the light back in, it twists the cord.
