Colors fading and fish hiding.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fish hiding is the first sign of disease you'll generally see, especially with ich. Then comes the "scratching." The actual visible ich spots aren't visible at first, and you want to treat it ASAP. If it were me I'd bump the temp, add salt, and do daily or every other day 50% water changes until it becomes more clear what's up.

I am currently treating my tank for ich. I wanna be safe and catch it before it gets worse. I am using kordon rid-ich plus to treat it. I added the first dose, now should I do a water change when I add the next dose? Thanks for all the responses. I am getting my test kit back from a friend so I will test it tonight.

Do a 35% w/c and use some stress coat. I would also check the water parameters...if there is indeed high nitrate levels, you may need more oxygenation in your tank. & to reduce the high nitrate levels (if thats the problem)...you could try a product like API Nitra-Zorb

I did a 25% water change the day before and didnt notice anything. I am gonna lower the water level a little bit so my HOB filter will break the water more and my bubbler will break the surface more.

water parameters?

Testing tonight.

If your fish are flashing (rubbing themselves on objects) it could be a sign of disease (parasites).

Thats what I thought and I have been adding new fish recently so I think one of them brought it in.

I'd check them for Ick. Look at them real closely constant scratching I suspect ick also. What is the water temp?

A few fish do a lot a fast twitching, sometimes 4 sudden swipes across the sand, or a quick swipe on a log. It was at 80.2, I cranked it up to 82 now.

I thought it was high Nitrites, but after some research I think its ich, especially with new additions. I will know tonight when I test my water. I added some rid ich plus and bumped it up to 82. With a 4 day cycle of 25ml daily doses of rid ich, how much should I change the water?
