My guess is cichlasoma amazonarum or cichlasoma portalegrense

There are two forms of nicaraguans. One that is gold blue and orange coloring with no verticle stripping (just the horizontal) and then there are ones (like yours) that are all gold with verticle stripping and checkerboard patterns in the tail. I have one, he is 7" and yours looks like mine though mine is brightly colored and not stressed. Unless your better pics of him can say differently I am standing strong with nicraguanse. I will try and get a pic of mine to show you for comparison.

the face of those two fish you names are too pointy for the fish in the picture. i posted another picture just now, so hopefully this helps!

I am more than 100% positive that is a nicaraguan. Like I said before 8) Read my above discription. Mine is about that size as well.
