Largemouth Bass Help - California

I checked out a sticky that Oddball put together about restricted fish in California, and I did not see Large mouth bass. White bass, however, are on the list.
He looks pretty healthy and happy to me. I would expect a little more girth for his length, but like you said, the fish in the pond run on the small side. If you're up in the SC mountains where it is a bit cooler, that would contribute to the smaller sizes.
I don't know how to do a link, but it's under FAQ in the forum directory. If you can't find it, I guess I could copy and paste.
I would keep it, no heater which is nice. Toss a few bluegills in the 160g too. Lots of driftwood should make a nice tank. While they are in the 55 I would do a 10 day metro treatment and a 10 day prazi treatment (angelsplus has the best prices).
160g = not nearly enough for the Bass. If it really is a drainage ditch-type area, I'd let him go. If there's any doubt that it doesnt feed any other bodies of water... buy a kiddie pool or something...
Your getting some bad advice in this thread...NEVER EVER release a fish into the wild. Not only is that illegal almost everywhere, that is a great way to spread exotic diseases/parasites into the local ecosystem. Especially since you have been feeding it feeder fish (they are common carriers of many ailments).
In California, it is illegal to remove any fish from the wild alive, so technically you broke the law by keeping that bass. I would be more careful about posting illegal activities on here, several forum members have gotten in trouble with the law for just that.
