I heard some things on the internet about the foods to feed your beani. I tried to search it again but no luck. There is not much things to search of these species because they are so rare.

What should I feed my 2 inch beani?
How often?
What should I feed him when he is older?
I really need help, he was a bit pricey($30).
:help2:

Feed him NLS, Bio-Gold, Algae wafers, and some goods like bloodworms and brine shrimp.
REMEMBER TO NOT OVERFEED, THEY WILL BLOAT

It is really weird how the beani all of the sudden is all over the hobby now?
I see them all over California and some of my friends out of the state say it is appearing in their LFS too?

well feed it low protien foods evry other day and clean water is important along with no tankmates. Should have bougth another because odds are he will get bloat. Many people buy up to 10 just to get one to live past the juvie stage... GOOD LUCK!!!!

NOOOO, I fed him cichlid gold, shrimp, and some blood worms will he bloat? Please help!!!!!!!

DONT GO OVERBOARD. I wouldnt feed him tomar. He will be fine just keep up on WC and go from there

since hes small i would put him in a small tank with hiding spots. I keep anything inder 3 inches in a 10-20 gallon because i feel that larger tanks tend to stress a new small fish

no no no no no no. larger tanks are easier to maintain water quality than small tanks. beanis are very sensitive and the greater water mass you can provide the easier it will be to keep stable water conditions.

well i think a 20 would be a good to start him in. If im wrong my bad never kept a beani before but its what i do with most of my fish. i start them in smaller tanks to observe them a lil before they get lost on the larger tanks where i cant see them

keep the stress low. keep to a strict water change schedule as to not stress from water changing factors. very very low protein and lots of veggie foods. salt the water to 1 tbsp per 10 gallons and again low low stress. good luck

This^^

Stress is what causes the bloat IME, not diet. I think thats an old wives tale...

While not scientific and only done in 2 tanks, I have grown out beani feeding them every high protein food possible and as long as they were the kings of the tank or at least lived in a fight free environment, they never got bloat.

In other tanks of the same fish with cichlid tank mates challenging them and low protein diets (the staple being spirulina) they all died from bloat symptoms.
