What do you think of this Monster driftwood?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I'm worried about my pbass scratching themselves up on it. But I plan to cut all the small, tiny branches off especially around the top left of the DW. So most of the branches will be pointing down and the small ones will be cut.

Any other opinions on how it looks? A couple people I know have said it's kinda ugly too, but I like it because of the unique shape.

I think the peice is awesome!! Although I do agree NOT with your stock...

Good luck!!

Oh, and I don't think you should go and cut it all up.. just go with something smaller and not so pointy :)

Epic piece of driftwood, but your fish will get shredded on it or just flat out destroy it eventually. Can't have those long, thin sticks in there with large, typically jumpy fish like aros, bass or big cichlids.

Send it to me, it will go really well in my clown loach tank.

Tom sells wood geared towards the planted tank crowd that care more for the look of the tank than the fish inside (bit of an exaggeration but nearly true). You can make an epic planted tank with small plecos, shrimp, small tetras angels even discus that can scoot between the branches. If you want pieces for a monster tank look for stumps and logs with less pointy stuff. I got a nice stump for my 75 gallon from tom that is not pointy at all and gives my discus and ancistrus places to hide but when the discus spook they don't get hurt

^ Exactly what I was thinking. That kind of a piece is ideal for the planted tank. I would think a knarly stump with thick roots would suit your stock much better.

the wood itself is nice. however it wont look good in ur tank with that stock. might scratch and hurt ur fish since its so branchy. usually woods like that is nice in planted tank with small fish. tom has nice woods. not liking his prices tho. im assuming ur gonna end up paying $150+ shipped to ur door. and im pretty certain u will regret buying it later on. ur better off with finding ur own woods if u live close by a forest or something. all the woods tom is selling. he goes out and gets them himself then sell.

I agree with the others, not a piece for a large stock tank. Happily, I think that driftwood would look AWESOME in my planted 125g ~ send it my way!
