F1 EQUADOR FESTAE NEW!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you don't see Festae in the local fish stores anymore due to an exportation freeze in South America, particularly in the Ecuador area. Most Festae you come across here in the United States has been bred here in the United States. Nice fish by the way, I wish I could get my hands on some Festae juveniles.

True... they also come from Colombia and Peru, though and I do not believe the same rules apply there. Interesting to see them labeled as Ecuador Terrors.

There is great debate wether or not Festae are Native to Colombia or not. I am on the side of the fence that believes they were introduced there. And yes there are Festae coming in that are claimed to be from Peru. The freeze in Ecuador is really pissin me off lately;) oh,well at least there are quality specimans that are still floating around to keep juviniles in our hands:) Every store is different and has different policies as to where they buy their fish from. I have a few friend in Cali and ive heard of stores there selling festae.

I live in Alaska and only seen festae here an LFS only one time!! now that store as been out of business for years, the only stores ive seen with festae since were produced by me;) I have to order anything and everything i keep, cause the quality and care from the stores are not up to my standards.

So total weve had this little guy for two weeks now. Have you guys ever assumed it was a specific sex?
Obviously its a too young, but we feel like its going to be male, its developed very small grey/blueish
tinge to its front/lower part of its face. Its still very yellow with some black bars that tend to come and go,
im really liking the red in the fins so far. Total we waited 15 months for this one! We bought it from store
titled "FISH". Which has just recently closed. They bought i believe 12 of them and literally had 2 the next day I had to call in to reserve one for me. And it was the only one left, were very fortunate to have this guy. Currently right at a even 4'' total length (nose - end of fin)

Thank you everyone for the feedback, this little guy will be in our family for years to come,
THanks!
