How do YOU clean your tanks?

Lol, screw buckets...I use a 5g water jug to remove the old water and add in fresh. Works great.

Except mine doesn't have the handle like the above one does...would be more convenient if it did though

good ole siphon through the sink and the sink to fill it back up!

When I said 'buckets' earlier I meant 5gal buckets with handles. Same size as what you use. Still a HUGE PITA compared to the non-bucket method. If you think your way is somehow streamlined I suggest trying the method most of us are talking about. You'll wonder why you ever messed with that jug to begin with.

I have my return pump from my sump plumbed so that a line runs outside, i just flip two valves and the pump pumps the water out then i just fill the tank back from a sink.

i siphon water out a nearby window using a 3/4'' hose with a strainer at the end so my fish don't get sucked in or stuck. then i add prime according to the tank size (not the amount of new water). then i add water directly back into the tank from the kitchen sink using a python without the drain attachment. thats it...

I use a 20 gallon tub and a gravel vac at the tank. I gravel vac the substrate and fill the 20 gallon tub up. Once it is half filled I drain it out the front door with the gravel vac. I have 2 of these tubs, the other 20 gallon tub is in the bathtub filled with 80 degree water and prime is added to it. I used to pick the 20 gallons of water up and out of the bathtub and drag it to the tank but I dont like spilling the little bit of water that used to come out just from moving that much water around so I started just leaving the 20 gallons of water in the tub and using a 1 gallon pitcher to fill that tank back up. Yes 15 to 20 trips back and forth. I do need a small pump to pump the clean water to the tank. I like having the tub of tank water at the tank so I can clean the filters when I need to. It is a 55 and I change 20 gallons per week. I have a 20 gallon in the basement that I do the same thing with and of course I only fill the 20 gallon tub 1/4 of the way so I can move downstairs with out spilling the water. I am in the process of adding another 55 that will be in the basement. I know TO SMALL but it was given to me and it is brand new.

Well I use a bucket and a siphon. I used to use a magnet scrubber to clean the glass but I soon remembered that I hate them. So now I use a kitchen sponge (Virgin of course but rinsed heavily) and that's about it.

For my 125g: First, I use the magnetic algae scrapper against the glass. I then shake out my plastic floating vine plant to rid it of floating algae and left over food. It usually takes about 10 minutes for eveything to settle back down. Once settled, I use my python to remove anything form the top of the substrate. Once the substrate is cleaned I'll continue to drain the water level down about 1/4 - 1/3 of the way. I'll add in some Prime and refill the tank with tap using the python. After it's filled, I'll stir up the sand and wait for that to settle. Once the sand has settled I then drain the water down another 1/4 - 1/3 and repeat the prime and refill. I usually do this 2-3 times per week. I've noticed that the fish seem to grow quicker this way.

I use two Fluval canisters for bio only. No chemicals and no mechanical other then me with the python
