Hello,
Are frozen raw shrimp safe to feed? ingredients: shrimp, salt, sodium tripolyphosphate (to retain moisture)
The price is 1/2 Silversides.
I have been told by LFS that store purchased raw shrimp is not good for fish???
Thanks!

I feed krill to all my fish in every stage from 2 inch to my 16 inch catfish. But i also feed them a variety of food. Shrimp, pellets, haddock, beaf fat, peas, talapia
But it depends on the type of fish I personally hate frozen silversided and refuse to use them

Been feeding my fishes frozen market shrimps for more than a year now with the same ingredients you mentioned, no problems at all. Much cheaper and doesn't cloud the water as much as fresh.

The LFS would tell you that because they don't sell them and want you to buy their food. Frozen shrimp are perfectly safe to feed although they shouldn't be the main staple, but the same goes for any other food (variety is the best).

The problem i've read with ONLY feeding market prawns is the thiamin (sp?) in them which can cause problems... but as mentioned, if you feed a varied diet, you shouldn't have to worry about that...

Mix the diet up dont exclusively feed shrimp, I feed my arrow pretty much everything shrimp, silversides, insects, toads, tilapia, massivore, hikari sticks, smelt, nightcrawlers he smashes all of it I am probably forgetting something. He really likes certain foods but i mix it up.

To the OP...I forgot to mention shrimp is only a part of my fishes' mixed diet. I feed them varied foods like what the others suggest.
