When I woke up thismorning everything was normal , she greated me when I went to feed her, I put in the blood worms she ate them all almost right away as normal. When I went to feed her tonight she did not greet me as normal, she was just sitting on the botom of the tank not really moving, I dropped in the blood worms watched her for a bit, she still didnt move much and then walked away. I came back about an hour later and she was still pretty much in the same position and none of the blood worms were eaten which is extremely odd because she always eats them all almost as fast as I put them in. When I looked her over to see if anything was wrong I noticed that one eye was totally normal but one eye is bright red and she has a red mark in the middle of her head. I am at a loss and beside my self as to her condition and what to do. I am praying you guys will be able to help me out on figuring out what is wrong and how to cure her. She is a very special pet to me and If I loose her it will totally crush me beyond belief. I am going to post pictures of both her eyes and the mark on her head. She is in the grow out tank by herself with nothing but a sand bottom and all the levles are perfect. 7.0Ph 0.0 Amonia 0.0 Trites and between 0.0 to 5.0 Trates. Thank you guys so much for all your help!!

Looks like an injury of some sort. While I haven't had a ray in years, I can remember a friend had a rock fall on his ray and it looked similar. Did someone maybe do something while you were away?

Looks like the blow to the head hit her eye also. Kinda like when you get punched in the eye and you get that blood pocket or I guess you could call it a hematoma. I had an angel get the crap beat out of her and her eye got all red and had an air bubble in it. It took some time but it eventually went back to normal. I hope your ray is gonna be ok. Somebody will chime in with something actually helpful!

No one was home when I was out today so I know no one touched him. The only thinn in the tank besides her is is an air stone, heater and the filter intake tube, I hope she just gave her self a black eye and she will survive

this could be bad news, i hope it is an injury of some sort, because wut it could also be is some sort of an internal problem and the eye has filled with blood.... may not be much you can do :(

What kind of internal problem do you think it could be? is there anything I should keep aneye out for? it just kills me because she was so happy to see my this morning and her normal self then in a matter of 12 hours or so she wont even move around much. I did another water change just to make sure it wasn't the issue and she didnt even move much during that. Usually when I am filling up the tank she is swimming thround the newwater being put in and trying to chew on my fingers buy she stayed in the same spot I found her in :-(

Update: She seems to be swimming around a little bit more but no where near her usual self :( . God I hope she makes it...

any number of things can happen to a fish, blood vessel could pop, who knows, glad to hear the fish sounds as though it is making a recovery
