New to Forum/need an ID/video!!

Hi all! My name is Dan. I just currently got back into Central Americans after having Africans for quite some time. I picked up 4 synspilum (or what I have been told are synspilum) and 1 black belt. The reason I am posting this thread asking for an ID is that the members of another forum I belong to assured me that my fish are NOT synspilum. The LFS I got them from said that these were offspring from fish he ordered directly from Jeff Rapps as Synspilum. So I am asking for your help!!

Here is a video

And a couple of pictures.

First the beautiful female black belt

This is the smallest female "synspilum" (~6")

One of the larger female "synspilum" (~8-9")

And now the male "synspilum" (~10-11")

Bifasciatus. I actually got a synspilum from my LFS that is around 4" now and also has been ID'd as Vieja Bifasciatus. it appears its quite common to mix these fish up.
You would think that a fish as common as the red head wouldnt get mixed up with rarer species.

either way yours do have quite short black bars, my one stretches across the whole body and is shaped like a banana

Rapps is only a human and TBH I've found he has somewhat of a god complex so I wouldn't be suprised if he is incapable of admitting to a mistake.

lol. That's kind of the way I see it too. I've never personally dealt with the guy though. Either way I love the fish I got. I didn't purchase them simply because they were synspilum, I bought them because I loved the way they looked. That will never change.

Id say a hybrid. Def not syns, not enough spotting in the face or color to be bifa. Kind resembles a Blue/red fen or a hartwigi. The last pic looks like a zonatus hybrid of some sort.

Good luck. They do look nice, but really cant identify any of them.

It kills me how these people who claim to be sales people have such a careless way of knowing what they are selling.
