male breeding parts

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i agree, it looks female, i wanted a male really, i thought with the "parts" photo's someone could tell me for sure. im going to ring the LFS tomorrow and see if they still have any, if not i know a person that will order. nothing against the convict, i just didnt want to breed them and pictured a nice male.

No VENTING is required of Convicts...if you're not sure, then take them back or throw them away.

Its WAY TOO easy to get Convicts and sex them...you can sex them right from the store. Orange belly and you are set.

so every female has a orange belly? surely sometimes they dont because they sometimes have long fins like a male? if it was as simple as orange female, male no orange, then there would be no debate mines male? (not arguing just trying to get you too see my way of thinking) i would happily go get another, but the pair they've been breeding from are for sale, i have NEVER seen a calico here before. I know a person thats got a batch due from jeff rapps anyday, but i really wanted to know for sure before i look at ordering another, for the last 3 weeks iv had the same mixed opinion, not getting at anyone, but the convict has traits of male and female and bar from waiting a year for it to grow im just frustrated i still cant figure out its sex.
Iv looked at HD picures of other convicts and the bits look female, and yet no orange. I wish id had oscars now haha.

There is no debate, just clueless people and not clueless people. When you choose to believe both then there's a problem. Not everyone here is an "expert" like you say, definitely not me, not even close, but at least I try not to give an opinion unless I believe it's right. Then you have all the people confidently sexing anything from Convicts to Festae in every thread based on body shape and "breast size", lol sorry if that seems "rude" and "arrogant" to you but it's the truth.

For the 20th time, all female convicts have orange bellies, all of them. Do your research. None of the other sexing methods are reliable, except venting. Fins can be either round or pointed in both sexes, it's been PROVEN. Funny thing is you admit you don't know how to sex convicts and then you "agree" every time someone makes an invalid point, then you complain because other people can't reach an agreement. Well there's gonna be no agreement simply because not everyone here knows what they're talking about, or care enough to find out. You ask a question, people offer you an answer and some evidence to back it up, then it's up to you to believe whatever you want.

I even made you this picture comparison of male/female sex organs, what you have is clearly a male. Not that it matters, because 3 days from now you will open yet another thread posting the same picture and asking the same question that's already been answered 5 times.

The second picture is 100% egg tube. It would be difficult to even see it in person on a 2" convict but the photo is excellent. Nice marbled female. Sexing cons is easy just add another con.

Every female Convict I've had, has had an orange belly. EVERY one of them (the only time the orange on my female I keep fades is when she's in breed dress, but it's been present on her since she was about a quarter of an inch, it's why I kept her as she was the first to show color). Some have had short fins, some have had long streamers. The fins are not the clear cut way to determine male from female. as I have female Dempsey's, Convicts and possibly a female Festae that is developing streamers. My friend has a female Festae that has them. I did tell you the breed tube was a males. It's small and angled to the back like my male Convict, male EBJD, regular male JD and male Carpintis. All my females have large breed tubes that point straight down.

I could be wrong but to me it looks fat and pointing straight down. He said its only 2"...
Personally I don't see what the argument is about I would just throw a known sexed convict in and see what they do and be done with it.
