Aro Swimming Upside Down! Need Urgent HELP!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I read this thread from the first post. I didn't reply because i had nothing useful to say. I'd like to see congratulations on keeping it alive and nursing it back to health now though.

I lost my RTG to a stupid mistake. The thing went in to shock when i move house. All the people moving near it's tank freaked it out. It never recovered and died about 5 hours later.

They are really sensitive to things you wouldn't expect so well done.

I'm sorry bout your RTG.. It really sucks to lose fish let alone an expensive one.. S**t happens.. Hope you did not give up because of this mistake..
Btw, thanks for the compliment & moral support.. The aro is doing pretty good now.. the only thing is its not eating the pellets that I put in the tank.. What a bummer!
I've a dwarf snakehead in there that would eat just about anything.. I thought the snakehead would entice the aro to start eating the pellets but it hasn't worked yet..

really, with a fish that size and being so solid too, id give it a bit longer without food going into the tank. maybe if you do feed it live food, you can give it something and it will probably eat that in a week or so..it seems hard, but thats the best thing for the fish.

I'll mix in some live food like frogs & worms once it starts to accept pellets.. I can see the persistency in its eyes.. haha

they can be sure be picky things. especially after an upset, like moving or being bashed.
but they do love to eat something live. its good if it was eating pellets prior cause it should go back to eating them soon enough. good luck with it, i hope the worst is behind you.

I just remembered that I need to snap some pics for you guys.. Brb!

It's so hard to take pics of it.. It keeps dashing everywhere & one time it jumped due to flash..
Here are the pics.. Enjoy :)

I haven't been able to afford another RTG, but i was eyeing up greens at the weekend. They're pretty cheap so i might buy another on soon. I had a tank built for Arowana and it hasn't had one in for over 6 months now.

Trust me from experience once they get big they're very hard to train on to other foods. Mine went over 2 months not eating because i wouldn't give it SW. It freaked me out big time.

All the best in your purchase.. Hope you find a healthy & nice green :)
Wow, 2 months of starvation... Hmm, so in the end which one started to give in, the owner or the fish?
Yeah, mine was being fed SW too..

The fish. I was adamant it was starve or die.
