I get your point about exceeding the manufacturer's flow rate but their flow rate is based on having one unit. Massive flow over the first or second or third leaving it ineffective is a false statement. A reduced dose yes. Having multiple units in-line allows the pathogen to be hit multiple times. Analysis shows if you flow 4x the flow of the recommended but have 4x the unit (as T1 did) then you get the same dose + a little more.
Hate to say but length does matter. You guys said so yourself (UVC vs UVS). The short stubby bulbs are not as good as the long tube bulbs.
Seriously, as I mentioned above being close to the quartz sleeve has the highest mW so longer the better. And yes quality (percent efficiency of the bulb) does play a role. Good bulbs have a efficiency of 33-35 percent.
