Sorry for the quality of the video. Anyone with any experience or advice on breeding these guys would be much appreciated.

Very nice. Congratulations. A member here named Peathenster has bred Guianacara... hopefully he chimes in with some info. Although, I think you've gotten past the hard part, which is getting them to spawn. I never had such luck with my group. They always showed signs of it, but never did. GL :)

Congrats! I've bred two Guianacara species, which were very similar. They like to spawn on vertical surfaces (like yours did) or cave ceilings. Pretty standard behavior after the eggs hatch - the parents would move wigglers around once or twice a day until they go free swimming, and continue to guard/herd them afterwards. If you plan to raise the fry, it's probably a good idea to siphon them out of that community tank. Fry are not hard to keep and take live bbs. They grow fairly slow as juvies though. Good luck!

Nice! Definitely a genius I'd love to keep! Good luck with the spawn but sorry I can't help with breeding experience

Thanks, definitely one of my favorites! Got these wild caught GG's from Snookn21.

Thanks! I had been hearing how hard they were to breed, but this pair only took a couple of months to get in the mood. Very pleasant surprise.

Thank you! The female ended up eating the last bit of her eggs tonight, but that pair acts like they are ready to breed again. Also have another female that has been pretty frisky lately, but I dont think she has paired up with anyone yet. She has her choice though, with 3 other available males in the tank.

From your video, it looks like the parents were able to fend off tank mates, but were under a lot of pressure. I wonder if that's why they ate the eggs...

Yeah, I think the pressure was a result of me standing over by that end of the tank and the rest of the tankmates swarming to me looking for food. :D I've seen no one even attempt to go after the eggs, though. I think they all know that their territory is taken, as the GG's have been protecting that end for a good week 1/2.

Peter, had these guys breed again. This time with much less traffic in the tank. Only 3 other GG's and a similarly-sized Robertsoni is in the tank with them. If these eggs do end up hatching, do you think it will be alright to leave the fry in this tank? I would really love to raise some of these so whatever you think will be best is what I'll do.

Thanks.

I guess it depends on whether the tank mates post a problem. Is it possible to remove the other fish for a few days? Do it at night when they are asleep so there's no struggle. Both of the species I had were good parents. It took several days (can't remember exactly) for the wigglers to go free swimming. If you decide to pull the wigglers, make sure there's enough aeration.
