MYSTERY BICHIR DEATH?????

I use sand but there could of been something that fell into the sand and I have had him for almost a year so could an internal parasite take that long to kill its host? And yeah I was thinking of maybe an ornite bichir

parasites don´t want kill the host. It is their habitat. When the host dies, the parasite dies as well. So yes, it can take that long. Almost all bichirs have parasites. Normally that causes no problems, but if something happenes, that weakens his immune system, then he is doomed.

That said, it could live with parasites for decades without any problem and then suddenly die within days.

an ornate would be great but to be safe I would try and find a big one
