8'x4'x2' DIY Plywood - Help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think you are making it more difficult in your head than it needs to be. There are hundreds of builds from this forum alone that you can follow.

A thread you might look in to: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...mpilation-of-DIY-plywood-tanks-(Load-Warning)

What I really need is someone to tell me HOW to build one. I dont know how.

Thanks for the link...lots of good builds on there. Its not that I couldnt do it, I think I could make somethin up, I am just the kinda guy that would rather follow someone elses proven footsteps as to construction. Like plans. Tell me where to cut, and thats what youll get.

it seems that there have been a lot of requests for step by step plans.. maybe i'll design a scalable set of plans and post it.

Wow. I dont want to make you have to go and do that, but if you did it would be a sticky for sure. In addition to that it would be amazing help to myself and therefore the university. I keep seraching for plans, have in the past and am now, just doesnt seem to be much out there in regards to a general build.

Have you thought of getting a rectangular aquaculture tank and installing a glass window. Does it have to be removable. Concrete blocks are another option.

That might be a possibility for the other two tanks, but not for this one.

Ill talk about the other two tanks if I can build some confidence and get this build down.

Bump - if I am going to do the pond armor, should I do fiberglass or whatever it is beneath? It seems that gets suggested a lot to increase rigidity.

I believe that VLDesign used pond armor on his 2600 build that he's finishing up now. He's had a lot of minor(but aggravating) setbacks, and ended up reinforcing all the corners with fiberglass and highly recommends doing the same. If you haven't checked out his build it would be a great read since it covers all the changes that were made and what did and didn't work out.

And I have step by step instructions (In my signature)

Use the fiberglass & Resin in the seams and corners. Ask Butch from Pond Armor what he thinks about using Fiberglass in with the pond armor. I think he says that works jsut fine.

You can also get Max ACR from Ebay. Link in my PDF.
